Magnetless Featured in The Engineer

The Engineer has covered our rebrand from Cooled Motors to Magnetless as we move towards commercialising our rare-earth-free electric motor technology.

The article explains how our Unified Excitation Synchronous Motor (UESM) is designed as an alternative to the permanent magnet motors used in electric vehicles and other traction applications, delivering comparable torque, power and efficiency while potentially reducing motor costs by up to 70%.

It also highlights that the UESM is compatible with conventional three-phase inverters, so it can be integrated into existing powertrain architectures, and that we are initially targeting automotive and drone applications, with potential uses in marine propulsion, robotics and beyond.
