Breakthrough Energy was founded by Bill Gates in 2015 to accelerate the technologies the world needs to reach net-zero emissions. Magnetless joined Cohort 6 of Breakthrough Energy Fellows, one of 21 companies selected from 9 countries.
Our Unified Excitation Synchronous Machine (UESM) is a new rare-earth-free, magnet-free electric motor topology designed to deliver high performance using a conventional three-phase inverter. We expect the UESM to be recognised as the fifth magnet-free motor topology.
It will give OEMs, Tier 1 suppliers and defence companies a route away from rare-earth magnets without sacrificing performance. We are grateful to Breakthrough Energy and look forward to what we will build together.
